After an eventful but ultimately paid travel to Yogyakarta we achieved a lot in the progress of our project SSCJ (Save Street Child Yogya.) sponsored by: Foundation Fian.
New home, thanks to your support. We have learned from the past and we have now actively involved the neighborhood in setting up the home.
In cooperation with the enthusiastic group of volunteers there is an active plan. In which we participate and collaborate with the inhabitants of the kampong, with in particular the kampong head. The kampong head has the most important vote in assigning a house in the kampong. We have indicated that we will give shelter to the children, and important meetings. In the first week of the new accommodation we have a ' Bancaan '. It is usual that a nice meal is offered in the surrounding houses to contact each other. In addition, we have the neighborhood spurred to participate in our work. The reception of the first group of children have already taken place. The goal is to have a maximum of 8 children. With this group we actively work to a future plan. The goal is to help street children (both boys and girls) primary care when they need it. This includes medical care and the ability to provide education on the street. In addition, there is a contact time twice a week with a group of street children at a fixed location on the street.
Realization of stated objectives:
The following goals are realized in the past period:
• new home found and fully furnished.
• Paid night watchman who have lived on the street as a child. Now married and the father of two children. He is an expert.
• The children will get education by volunteers.
• We make the annual educational trip. This year we went to the Borobudur.
Outside the realization of the above objectives, we have put a lot of effort into the vision of the future. For this we have made concrete commitments. I get a weekly update of Talihta, she is the note taker at meetings.
In September, we will give a benefit with delicious Indonesian food and sale of services and Indonesian scarves, and more…..
I'll keep you informed of any new developments.
Warm regards, Jacqueline
